Top crowd for Huntingdonshire derby

  Recent articles
A season's best league crowd of 536 watched the Huntingdonshire derby between St Neots and St Ives at Kester Way on 13th March. They went home without seeing a goal though and the day ended with Daventry Town back on top of the table after a 2-1 home win over Boston Town. Tom James and Adam Confue gave Daventry a vital win either side of a Paul Goodhand reply for the Poachers.

Desborough moved out of the bottom three with a 5-0 Waterworks Field drubbing of Daventry United. Goals from Danny Rogers, Darren Wheeler, Dan Kitching, Michael Keall and Michael Boyle-Chong shared the goals. Yaxley remain in trouble after a second half Avelino Vieira goal gave Blackstones a 1-0 Leading Drove success. Raunds stay bottom after a 4-1 home reverse against Sleaford whose matchwinner was three goal Miles Hunter, now on 35 for the season. Martin Wormall scored the other visiting goal with Leigh Chapman the home marksman.

A late Ashley Stevens goal gave Deeping a 2-2 draw at Cogenhoe - their tenth match without loss. Mitch Griffiths' opener for Rangers was overhauled by Wes Emery and Ben Baines after the interval. Long Buckby were held 1-1 by draw specialists Stewarts & Lloyds - the champions are now unbeaten in eight. Dan Holman scored for Buckby, David Sheridan for the Foundrymen. Newport Pagnell ran out 4-0 home winners against Northampton Spencer with a Darren Lynch brace and singles from Rob Tapp and Dean Buss.

Bourne and Stotfold played out a goalless encounter at the Abbey Lawn while the day's most dramatic encounter came at Holbeach where the Tigers shared eight goals with Wellingborough. A Lewis Brooks penalty and Craig Parker double had Holbeach in control at the interval, but Iain Blaikie and two goal Wayne Richardson hauled the Doughboys level. The comeback seemed complete when Scott Cross gave Wellingborough a stoppage time lead, but home player boss Shaun Keeble spared the home blushes with a leveller in the 95th minute!
